Over a twenty five year career across journalism, advocacy, and communications, Sholto has worked with presidents and prime ministers as well as leaders in the arts, academia, NGOs and business. 

His roles have included being Senior Fellow at Malaysia’s national think tank; Editor of an international quarterly magazine published from the Arabian Gulf; Chief Interviewer, Commentator, and Senior Writer at the Independent, Assistant Editor at the New Statesman in London; and External Editor at Foreign Policy Magazine’s Democracy Lab channel in the US. 

Sholto writes a weekly international affairs column for The National, the UAE’s leading English language newspaper, and his reports and analyses have appeared in almost every major UK publication and in newspapers around the world from Jakarta Globe to South China Morning Post.
